Guild Member Spotlight: Dr. Laura Shallow
Dr. Laura Shallow is a three-time SXU alumna, receiving three different degrees from SXU's Graham School of Management (GSM) at different times: Bachelor of Business Administration in 1978, M.B.A. in 1986, and M.S. in Finance in 2003.
As an adjunct professor, president of the GSM Alumni Advisory Board and chair of the GSM Business Advisory Board, Dr. Shallow continuously gives back to SXU.
The scholarship support Dr. Shallow received as an undergraduate made it possible for her to attend a Catholic university and continue the cherished tradition of Catholic education, which was very important to her parents. Dr. Shallow credits her parents for teaching her at an early age to give back to organizations that provide exceptional service and help others. "Saint Xavier University, due to their generosity, flexibility, academic excellence, and caring spirit helped to jump-start my business career," says Dr. Shallow. SXU's Catholic Mercy tradition means a great deal to Dr. Shallow.
As a member of SXU's planned giving society, The Guild, Dr. Shallow has included SXU in her estate plan. "Creating a legacy is important to me," says Dr. Shallow. "My goal is to make sure that others benefit from the wonderful education which has blessed me throughout my life."
By including SXU in her estate plan, Dr. Shallow's commitment to Catholic education will live on beyond her natural life. "In a sense, this plan is designed to support my valued schools, my Catholic ministry, and honor my loving parents."
